Because healing shouldn't be a privilege.

KARIMA Foundation is the heart of our collective — the rhythm that turns compassion into access.

We exist to remove barriers to mental health care, particularly for Black, Brown, and marginalized communities who have too often been left outside the circle of care.

We believe healing should not depend on income, insurance, or circumstance.
It should depend only on human need — and our shared commitment to meet it.

Our Mission

Every story told, every shirt sold, every session held — echoes into someone else’s breakthrough.

To create pathways to free and truly affordable therapy by reinvesting art and philanthropy into healing.

Every poem, performance, and program contributes to the KARIMA Foundation helps fund sessions for those who need them most.

We don’t just tell stories of healing — we make healing possible.

The Foundation is sustained through a blend of storytelling, community giving, and direct contributions.

  • Art Fuels Access: Proceeds from KARIMA Storytelling performances and merchandise fund sponsored therapy sessions.

  • Therapy Feeds Equity: Each KARIMA therapist donates a portion of their time or revenue to the Foundation’s therapy access fund.

  • Community Powers Change: Individuals, partners, and organizations contribute directly to expand the reach of care.

All funds are managed with transparency and accountability, ensuring that each dollar brings healing where it’s needed most.

How It Works

Who We Serve

Every story told, every shirt sold, every session held — echoes into someone else’s breakthrough.

The KARIMA Foundation and the work of the KARIMA Collective is open and inclusive to all. At the same time, we prioritize communities that experience systemic barriers to care, including:

  • Black people

  • People of color

  • LGBTQ+ communities

  • Youth and young adults navigating transition or trauma

  • Those impacted by financial hardship, housing instability, or systemic inequity

We partner with schools, nonprofits, and grassroots organizations to reach those who might otherwise go unseen — and to remind them that healing belongs to them, too.

Therapy Access Fund

Directly covers the cost of therapy for individuals and families who would not otherwise be able to afford it.

Community Healing Circles

Facilitated spaces where story, movement, and mindfulness meet — offered free or at minimal cost through our partners.

Artist Collaborations for Access

Creative partnerships that merge art and advocacy — from spoken word campaigns to benefit merchandise.

Sponsorships & Partnerships

Corporate and community sponsors can underwrite therapy groups or neighborhoods, creating sustainable models of wellness.
